Theory of the Multiverse

Space goes as far as we can see and what we look at is almost the same things: matter and radiation. What we look at is the leftover radiation from the hot and dense state referred to as the Big Bang. We do not understand what lies beyond our observable universe, we could tell that there is an infinite. This is a controversial idea, the multiverse is the idea that our universe and anything in it, is just part of a larger structure.

The theory of the multiverse is explained by Brian Greene in a podcast. In the podcast, he explains how there are particles, and these are made up of smaller things like quarks. But even quarks are made up of smaller things, like futons, gravitons, and more. These are made up of different combinations, and this is what makes the world and the universe today. With the different combinations or configurations, the building blocks of life are created. Basically, what we see today is a combination of different particles. This idea is what makes up the theory that there are different universes similar to our universe. Like the example given in the podcast, there are different universes like the bubble universe, parallel universes, daughter universes, parallel universes, and much more. An example given is a piece of cheese, the cheese has some holes and these represent the universes. If the piece of cheese starts to melt, the bubbles or the holes also start to expand and move. As the cheese expands, the universes expand. This is a way to show why the universe expands and how it is related to the multiverse.

Our current knowledge about the universe is what we can observe, but there is still the uncertainty that there is something else beyond. As the universe continues to expand or inflate after the Big Bang. We can likely predict that the universe is infinite. Since the explosion, inflation has been accelerating its speed, instead of decreasing. We do not see an end to inflation, making us wonder if there is an infinite universe.

If the universe is infinite, then there are infinite possibilities or combinations that make up the universe. If the universe is infinite, then there are infinite atoms and these can have infinite patterns that code humans. This way there are infinite possibilities that there is another earth in one of the infinite universes just like our own. If there are multiple universes and not an infinite universe, then the chances are possible but are drastically less likely. On the other hand, if the universe is infinite, then there are infinite possibilities, or they are greater chances for there to be another world just like us.

It is believed that the universe is a “closed universe” it means that it curves around on itself. If the universe is closed then it should have a finite volume, but there are no boundaries or edges. Current evidence shows that our part of the universe is not curved, or at least from what we can observe. This tells that the universe is infinite or maybe we cannot detect its curvature from the portion we observe. The multiverse only words in an infinite universe. If there is an infinite amount of space, then there are multiple possible events to occur an infinite amount of times
